To initiate healthy public debate on policy issues emerging in Canadian society and to promote sound social, economic, environmental and foreign policy that aims at fostering goodness, shunning evil and ensuring justice, equality and peace.
To this end, CIPS will gather and analyze data, conduct policy research, develop solutions, evaluate programs and services, and educate Canadians on critical issues and trends.
Conducting research and analysis on a full range of Canadian public policy matters, in general, and those impacting Canadian Muslims, in particular;
Communicating and publicizing its analysis and recommendations to the general public, media, academia, experts, and policy-makers to inform and initiate public debate;
Providing strategic insights and serving as a strategic planning partner for community organizations, the NGOs and the government by developing policy solutions that look into the future, anticipate change, are practical and equitable;
Seeking resolution for, and providing leadership in, finding authentic Islamic solutions to significant problems and difficult issues that the Muslim community may be facing in its efforts to live Islamically;
Establishing a Speakers Bureau by maintaining a list of Muslim experts in various fields who can speak on the issues pertaining to their areas of expertise, give interviews and present proper Islamic views;
Conducting policy roundtables, symposia, workshops, conferences, meetings and exhibitions;
Producing research studies, policy briefs, books, editorials, commentaries and other publications using any or all of the available publication media;
Collaborating with other organizations, public or private, national or international, in carrying out its mission;
Establishing a library or collection of books, manuscripts and other publications in a variety of written and electronic media.
